Welser weekly market original opens new farm shop in the Schafwiesen

The Gangl family has been supplying the weekly market in Wels with fresh vegetables for three generations. When the weekly market was still located on the Wels town square, Josef Gangl’s grandfather was already selling the products he produced on his own farm. Now the grandson has taken the next marketing step. Gangl opened a farm shop on his farm in the Schafwiesen, where cattle used to be a few years ago.

“In the former cowshed, I mainly sell what comes straight from the farm. These are different types of vegetables and pickled things. In order to expand the range, I have included products from various farmers in the area in the range,” says Gangl. Sister Johanna and brother Stefan help him in the fields and in the greenhouse. In the new farm shop he is the only one who calls the shots.

Gangl obtains meat, bacon and sprouts from organic farmer Herbert Hobl from Schleißheim, while Günther Fuchshuber from Offenhausen supplies the Störi bread. Dairy products such as yoghurt, curd cheese and raw milk come from the Hagmüller family in Oftering. The Glück family from Weißkirchen supplies Gangl with spelled products, whole grain and fruit. “My contacts from the weekly market were very helpful when setting up the farm shop,” says Pernauer. That is why it is also ensured that all products offered in the store are of high quality.

In the meantime, long-standing market customers also visit the farmer and master of business administration at home (Schafwiesenstraße 103). “Personal contact is the be-all and end-all. And the further you travel, the higher the sales,” says the busy local supplier. (fam)
