Grandmas reading aloud at the Christmas market in the Volksgarten

Grandmas reading aloud at the Christmas market in the Volksgarten

Fairy Tale Trail. Crib. And now also reading grannies. The joy about the new offer for families at the Christmas market in the Volksgarten is not only great for the city councilor Doris Lang-Mayerhofer (VP), who is responsible for the markets. She is convinced that the new offer will make children’s eyes light up.

The ARGE Christmas Market reading series is made possible with the support of the ibuk association, the Linz City Library and committed private readers. In an area protected from wind and weather, every Tuesday, directly in front of the crèche near the music theater, different reading mentors – also known as reading grandmas – will tell short stories for the best. The young and old listeners are invited to sit down on the benches provided.

The offer is mainly aimed at children of preschool and elementary school age, a story lasts around 20 minutes. The start is on Tuesdays at 3 p.m. – except on December 6, when Santa Claus has priority.
