Anyone looking for graffiti or murals, as the large-scale graffiti are called, will find plenty of them in Linz. Because the Mural Harbor in the harbor has long made a name for itself, offers hundreds of examples of national and international graffiti art and has paved the way for more and more walls in Linz to be colorful and tell stories in pictures.
The artist couple Video.Sckre (Julia Heinisch from Linz and her German partner Frederic Sontag) also do this on residential buildings of the GWG Linz. After the work of art on Prunbauerstraße in Urfahr, a pair of birds designed by the artist team has been decorating a residential building on Industriezeile for a few days.
On their own initiative and without payment, the two design monotonous facades and transform them into colorful eye-catchers with animal motifs. The GWG accepted and supported the proposal for the current facade design. “We want to promote art in public space and, above all, make it more visible,” says GWG Managing Director Nikolaus Stadler. Addendum: This also sets an example for the fact that the non-profit housing construction can also tolerate colourfulness with a little courage.
