Since the beginning of October, a child has been investigating statements to its mother and a corresponding complaint to the police. Now another kindergarten location is said to be affected.
According to the police, a total of six possible and sometimes serious cases of abuse were recorded in the kindergarten from which the investigations had started. But as early as autumn 2021, the same teacher is said to have sexually abused a child in another kindergarten in Graz.
The city of Graz, as the operator of the facilities, now wants to inform the parents of the second affected location by letter. “Those responsible in the city of Graz cooperate closely with the police and support the investigating authorities in order to ensure that the case is fully clarified. The suspect was released from duty as soon as suspicion was first raised and will no longer be active in the children’s service until the final clarification.” It was said in a broadcast by City Councilor for Education Kurt Hohensinner (ÖVP).
The police have set up a contact point for possible further suspected cases or abnormalities: Parents can contact the Graz-Plüddemanngasse Police Inspectorate – personally or by calling 059/133-6591.
