“The need is increasing, many people are reaching the limits of their financial possibilities,” says Deputy Mayor Karin Hörzing (SP). This can also be seen in the cases of imminent evictions that the five Kompass advice centers had to deal with this year. they become more.
From January to September of this year, 171 families received eviction appointments, and Kompass employees were able to contact 125 families. A total of 150 evictions could be prevented, with Hörzing attaching particular importance to the fact that no family became homeless. All those affected found a suitable roof over their heads. For comparison: In the whole of 2021, 135 eviction appointments and 114 contacts were registered.
The number of evictions also increased from seven in the previous year to 22 this year up to September.
In its efforts to find a sustainable form of housing for those affected that they can afford in the long term, the city of Linz will probably continue to be challenged. Hörzing fears that the number of families getting into trouble will continue to rise.
The Kompass advice centers are located in the New Town Hall in Linz (2), in the Franckviertel and Neue Heimat senior centers and in the Auwiesen district center.
