“Bauer und Bobo. How anger turned into friendship” is the name of the duo’s reading, which will be moderated by Susanne Pollinger.
It all started like this: Christian Bachler, who runs the highest farm in Styria, scolded the “Oberbobo” Florian Klenk in a video from the pigsty. The accused “eco philistine” and editor-in-chief of the Viennese weekly Falter Klenk had previously approved a judgment that obliged a farmer to pay damages after his cow had killed a woman.
Bachler asked Klenk to do an internship on his farm, and the two got talking: about climate change, the meat industry, agricultural policy and banks. When Bachler’s farm was on the brink of ruin at the end of 2020, the two friends from two worlds found 12,829 donors willing to help within 24 hours. Why it pays to talk to people whose opinion you don’t share.
