Nursing bonus: nursing association criticizes implementation

In an open letter to all provincial governors, the ÖGKV complains that the payment is gross and not net and that not all caregivers are taken into account. The federal government has decided on a salary subsidy for members of the nursing professions for this year and the coming year. The gross bonus for this year is around 2,000 euros and is to be paid out with the December salary. In the course of the next year, this bonus is to be converted into a “monthly payment form based on a collective agreement”. The federal states can increase this basic amount, but this year only Lower Austria will do so.

The much-heralded “15th salary” has been reduced to 2,000 euros, and after deduction of all taxes, well under 1,000 euros remain. This means that the federal government will get back more than half, the ÖGKV criticized the gross payment. “The colleagues are rightly angry,” says the open letter. ÖGKV considers the Pay Increase Purpose Grant Act (EEZG) to be far too narrow. Caregivers in prison, in the army or freelancers are not covered by the pay increase. The association is therefore calling for the law to be repaired – exemption from the increase in pay from all taxes and extension to all people involved in care and support.
