Portugal started the World Cup in Qatar with a 3-2 win over Ghana. Cristiano Ronaldo opened the scoring, converting the penalty after an action against him (65th). This makes the 37-year-old the first player to score in five World Cups.
The Ghanaians equalized through Andre Ayew (73′) before Joao Felix (78′) and Rafael Leao (80′) decided the game in Portugal’s favour. Osman Bukari’s goal (89th) – who imitated Ronaldo’s goal celebration (see video below) – was only a cosmetic result.
The Iberians took the lead in Group H, which saw Uruguay and South Korea scoreless earlier on Thursday.
