“You” challenge: Two Innviertel music groups are in the final

An expert jury selected six finalists from more than 50 participating choirs, brass bands and schools. They all arranged the Poxrucker Sisters’ hit “SIE”. Two Innviertler groups will be there: an ensemble from the Mattighofen State Music School, which was founded especially for the challenge, and the Rainbach fire brigade music band (FMK) in the Innkreis. You decide who actually wins the private concert in the rehearsal room with the three singing sisters: You can vote for your favorites on nachrichten.at until Friday, December 2nd.
The trio, together with the OÖN, called for creative interpretations of the hit “SIE” to be posted. They immediately took part in the “Sie” challenge: Viktoria Scharinger, Alexander Gann, Kathrin Anglberger, Anna Stabauer, Mirjam Brunner, Leonie Barth, Tobias Brunner, Sarah Konrad and her little brother Elias. “My boss, Günter Reisegger, gave my jazz-pop piano colleague Philipp Wohofsky and me the idea of taking part. We were immediately enthusiastic and since musical projects have been neglected in the past two years, our students were immediately enthusiastic about them,” says Viktoria Scharinger.

The 28-year-old singing teacher and master’s student was responsible for the implementation. An ensemble was founded especially for the challenge. The musicians bring the “Sie” hit to the best in a rockabilly version. With HTL student Tobias, the director deliberately staged a singer “to make singing attractive to young boys again and to show that singing is anything but uncool,” says the music school teacher, who plays the cajon in the video with Elias , who has only recently learned percussion, is responsible for the rhythm. Fun is the main focus of this ensemble, which is why there will certainly be several more projects with this line-up.

Special challenge

The musicians of the FMK Rainbach were “immediately on fire” when asked whether they would like to take part in the challenge, as Chairman Alexander Laufer explains. “What unites us with the Poxrucker Sisters is a shared passion for music. We are all the happier to be able to implement arrangements by young Austrian artists,” says Laufer. The FMK Rainbach currently has 104 members who not only demonstrate their skills at the traditional spring concert, but also regularly at concert and march evaluations. Just recently, the Rainbacher musicians, under the direction of conductor Gertraud Holzapfel, won a gold medal in the concert rating in Lembach (Rohrbach district) with 91.9 points in rating level D. “The video shoot for the ‘Sie’ challenge was a challenge for the special kind,” says Laufer. After several rehearsals, the music band met to produce the creatively designed video. They received support from a committed Rainbacher, who supported the musicians professionally in recording and editing. In the best-case scenario, the result should now bear fruit. In addition to the private concert in the rehearsal room, you can win free tickets for concerts and gifts from the fan shop.
