The longstanding workers’ council of the Perg construction company Habau, Josef Affengruber, was confirmed at the ÖGB regional conference in the Perg Chamber of Labor as regional chairman of the trade union federation. The delegates present elected Affengruber with 100 percent approval. Josef Affengruber has been active in the ÖGB since 2005 and was elected regional chairman in 2017. He is the chairman of the workers’ works council at Habau in Perg and lives in Nöchling in Lower Austria.
The content of the regional conference was entitled “Get to work”. In times of multiple crises and a massive wave of inflation, the trade unionists at the conference worked out their most important demands in the interests of the employees. “More and more employees are seriously concerned about the incredibly sharp rise in prices for energy, housing, food and transport,” said Affengruber. The uncertainty extends far into the middle class: “It is high time that the government took countermeasures and gave people security.”
