LINZ. They are the last project on the agenda of the Linz Design Advisory Board, which is meeting on Monday for the last time this year. The “Dancing Towers”, which are to be built in the immediate vicinity of the Barbara cemetery, have been quiet in recent years, and the project was last presented to the advisory board in February 2017. The height of the planned towers at that time: 50, 70 and 90 meters.
Five years later, according to the project applicant, these should each be around ten meters higher, which would mean that the three towers would be around 100, 80 and 60 meters tall. A mix of office and residential uses is planned, and a hotel is also planned. As reported, client Joachim Pawelka did not want to comment on the new plans before they were presented to the design advisory board.
Exams are still ongoing
Planning councilor Dietmar Prammer (SP) states with a view to the planned “growth” that it is important to wait and see how the design advisory board will assess the project. On the other hand, the building foundations should be examined separately. The necessary checks (including the ten-point checklist for high-rise buildings) are not yet complete. Basically, one welcomes a high-quality further development of this area, so Prammer, one stands for a further height development there.
In any case, the new development plan for the project would have to be approved by the municipal council, as is usually the case.
