A 46-year-old from the Urfahr area sustained serious injuries in a fall from a height of around three meters. The man from Mühlviertler was working alone on a construction site in the municipality of Hagenberg im Mühlkreis (Freistadt district) when the accident happened at around 4:45 p.m.
After fetching a construction spotlight from the attic of the building shell, the worker climbed down through the roof hatch. The ladder should have slipped away, and the 46-year-old fell on the concrete floor below.
Loud shouts drew the attention of his colleagues, who set the rescue chain in motion. The seriously injured was treated by the emergency doctor and taken to the UKH in Linz by the rescue service, the police said in a broadcast in the evening.
