Her close friend, former politician Gyles Brandreth, now claims the Queen, who died on September 8 at the age of 96, suffered from cancer.
The Queen’s Final Months
In his book “Elizabeth: An Intimate Portrait”, which is due to be published on December 8, he reports on the last months of the monarch’s life. Brandreth writes: “I had heard that the Queen had a form of myeloma – cancer of the bone marrow – which would explain her fatigue, weight loss and frailty.”
And further: “The most common symptom of myeloma is bone pain, especially in the neck and lower pelvis.” In fact, the Queen has recently struggled with limited mobility. In November 2021, the palace also announced that she was suffering from back problems. In the months that followed, she repeatedly had to cancel appointments.
