A patrol by the Schwanenstadt police noticed the driver late on Monday afternoon near the Varena shopping center in Vöcklabruck because he was driving at excessive speed. However, the young man ignored the stop signals from the officers. Instead, he hit the gas and sped away.
The police officers followed and observed numerous traffic violations: Despite the high volume of traffic, the 24-year-old made several risky overtaking maneuvers, disregarded restrictions, ignored passers-by who wanted to cross a protection path and drove through a construction site area while work was in progress.
A little later it was still possible to stop the ruthless speeder. The reason for the rapid escape quickly became apparent: the driver did not have a valid driver’s license, but he did have a small amount of cannabis and brass knuckles in the car. He also admitted to using cannabis over the weekend, but refused to see a doctor. The driver confessed to the allegations.
He is reported to the public prosecutor’s office in Wels for endangering his physical safety, under the Weapons Act and the Narcotics Act. All violations according to the StVO are reported to the BH Vöcklabruck, the police said on Tuesday afternoon.
