According to the Agency for Health and Food Safety (AGES), 4,428 new cases were recorded on Monday. This is above the average of the past seven days, with 4,308 new cases added every day. In Upper Austria, the state crisis team reported 340 new cases on Tuesday.
The seven-day incidence rose to 334 cases per 100,000 population. There are currently 42,170 laboratory-confirmed active cases in Austria, 1,613 more than the day before. Since the beginning of the pandemic there have already been 5,554,975 confirmed cases in Austria. 30 deaths have been registered in the past seven days. Overall, the Covid 19 pandemic has claimed 21,202 lives in Austria since it broke out. 234.8 infected people have already died per 100,000 inhabitants.
944 people in hospital
As of Tuesday morning, there were 944 infected people in the hospital, ten fewer than were reported yesterday. Within a week there was an increase of 29 patients. 66 people are being cared for in intensive care units. That number has dropped by five since yesterday and has dropped by four patients in a week.
A total of 181,352 rapid PCR and antigen tests were registered on Monday. Of these, 162,229 were meaningful PCR tests, the positive rate was 2.7 percent. On average, 84,495 PCR analyzes were carried out every day in the past week, 5.1 percent of which were positive.
