Visiting service gives more meaning to one’s life

FRANKBURG. Bernhard Gasselsberger has been visiting Mr. Wienerroither in the retirement home for a few months. The Red Cross Visiting Service helps against loneliness and gives life more meaning.

The two men share their common hobby, the fire brigade. Gasselsberger recently organized a visit to the fire brigade to marvel at the equipment and the fleet of FF Frankenburg. “I wouldn’t be able to drive with that today. It’s unbelievable what has happened in terms of technology and equipment in recent years,” Wienerroither said in amazement.

“When we laugh together and I feel Mr. Wienerroither’s joy about my visits and what we have experienced together, I experience the deeper meaning of voluntary work. I earn money in my job, in the visiting service I experience meaning and humanity. That’s just nice.” The relatives are grateful for the opportunities and the variety that Mr. Wienerroither has, because the father’s everyday life is such a welcome change.
