Assange is the founder of WikiLeaks and is the one who allowed the leak of, approximately, more than 700,000 confidential reports on US military activities, war crimes and espionageespecially in Iraq and Afghanistan, in 2010.

The Icelandic publisher Hrafnsson is in the making of a tour of Latin America with different leaders, rulers and presidents with the aim of asking for the release of Assange and put pressure on the United States government to finalize the release of the Australian journalist.

Lula supports the release of Assange

The editor-in-chief of WikiLeaks believes that the victories of different left-wing rulers in Latin America can help free the journalist and thus avoid an endless sentence: on June 17, the United Kingdom’s Home Secretary, Priti Patel, approved the Assange’s extradition to the United States, where he could be sentenced to 175 years in prison.

From Washington, for its part, the extradition of Assange to the United Kingdom is requested, where he has been in detention since 2019 for the violation of 17 crimes of the Espionage Act of 1917 and one of computer intrusion.
