An attentive neighbor noticed the heavy smoke around 10:30 a.m. and informed the emergency services, according to a police broadcast. They brought the injured to the LKH Graz.
The alarmed fire brigades from Egelsdorf, Sinabelkirchen, Unter- and OberGroßau were deployed with six vehicles and 30 emergency services. Using heavy respiratory protection, they managed to rescue the 41-year-old, who was lying on the ground and almost unconscious, from the apartment.
The ÖRK Gleisdorf and the emergency medical team in Weiz carried out initial medical care outdoors. The woman from Weizer was then transported to Graz Regional Hospital with severe smoke inhalation. In the evening she was still in mortal danger.
A district fire investigator from the police attributed the kitchen fire to the stove with a high degree of probability. The woman should not have switched it off after preparing the meal.
