They help people in need, give closeness and enable systemically relevant offers that would otherwise not exist. What volunteers do every day cannot be taken for granted. One of them is Manfred Groiß from the Red Cross office in Peilstein, who is looking for new colleagues on the occasion of World Volunteer Day (December 5). An acute emergency at night, an accident at work in the afternoon or a hospital transport in the early hours of the morning: no matter what time of day – Manfred Groiß and his colleagues are there when people need help. His office is in Peilstein, from where he was only recently alerted to an accident at a construction site: “fall from a great height” was the operational keyword. “It took us a moment to grasp the situation, but then a switch flipped and it just worked. The NEF (emergency doctor’s vehicle, note) came along and the patient was transported away by helicopter after they were treated together,” summarizes Manfred Big summarize this mission briefly. His rescue service career started rather atypically as an army medic. During the internship, he got to know the good community and team spirit at the office. “That’s why I’m still there,” says the qualified nurse. He definitely recommends working with the Red Cross and hopes for many registrations for the paramedic course in Peilstein.
New course type
In addition to the traditional autumn and summer course, there will be a new form of training for the Rohrbach district next year in Peilstein. “We start on January 20 with a course only on weekends, i.e. Friday afternoon and Saturday,” explains Rainer Schopf, course manager and service manager in Peilstein.
