Iryna Honcharenko is much more than a teacher. The new colleague at the digi MS Garsten, born and raised in the city of Cherson, which is located in the south of Ukraine on the border with Crimea, has been teaching Ukrainian children with a lot of passion since autumn of this school year. In Austria she is not only a committed teacher, but she also represents a piece of home for her new protégés. Honcharenko: “When I arrived in Austria, I realized that many Ukrainian children are traumatized by the war and have problems adjusting “It’s all the more important to support these children and to be there for them during their lessons. I’m happy to be able to be an important part of it here in Garsten.” She herself witnessed the outbreak of war and decided to flee to Austria with her family. After working as an English teacher in her home country for over 22 years, she is now continuing her passion for teaching in Garsten. “I would like to thank the Austrian teachers on behalf of their Ukrainian students and their parents for everything they do. I know how difficult it is to find access to children.”
