It’s getting colder and there’s no snow in sight yet

According to meteorologist Josef Haselhofer of the Central Institute for Meteorology (ZAMG), the weather for the coming week will be similar to this week. While it stays cold on the mountains, the temperatures in the lowlands are not yet wintery.

Colder air from the north will come to Upper Austria at the weekend. In the week starting December 12, the nights will be cold, during the day the temperatures can be slightly above zero.

Despite the cooling, it should snow a little at most on the mountains. Otherwise it doesn’t look like precipitation. “At least it’s not getting warm. That means the snow stays on the mountains,” says Haselhofer. Ski resort operators who have already made snow will be happy about that.

However, children who finally want to go tobogganing with their sledges and bobsleigh still have to be patient: not particularly warm, not particularly cold and little snow – this is how Haselhofer summarizes the weather for the first half of December.
