“Just be happy for once” – the spirited and fun-loving Countess Mariza sings about this longing in the operetta of the same name, which has delighted audiences in the Linz Music Theater again and again since its premiere on October 22nd. For the Danish soprano Carina Tybjerg Madsen, the operetta is “a kind of fairyland, something that does people good during hard times in the real world”.
It was precisely in this artistic fairytale land that the numerous visitors to the Linz music theater were kidnapped on Thursday evening – and all for a good cause. Because while the audience was enchanted by the musical sounds of the Bruckner Orchestra, the acting, dancing and singing performances of the opera ensemble as well as the creative stage design, the net proceeds from ticket sales for this operetta evening benefited the OÖN Christkindl and the Tips lucky star.

“Smart and grandiose”
When the entertaining evening finally came to an end and Countess Mariza found the happiness she had been longing for with the impoverished Count Tassilo, the roaring applause of the spectators never ended. Rudolf Cuturi, editor of OÖ Nachrichten, was also visibly impressed: “The participants had fun, the production was smart and grandiose, I’ve never seen anything like it. As people from Linz, we can be really proud of having such a great ensemble. Come on Even Viennese come to the theater in Linz.”
And in fact, viewers from Vienna also mingled with the audience that evening, such as Aurelia Kammerhofer and Florian Pühringer, who redeemed the operetta tickets – a birthday present – in the music theater. “It’s nice that we’re doing something good with our visit,” said the young woman from Vienna.
For Gino Cuturi, managing partner of Wimmer Medien, social commitment is one of the most important tasks for the media company: “As we have noticed, a lot of life revolves around love and people who need support and happiness. We had this Double happiness in the evening: we were able to see an excellent play and do good at the same time.”
Numerous families in Upper Austria will now benefit from this luck: Because the Christkindl presented a check for 15,000 euros to Dietmar Mascher, deputy editor-in-chief of OÖN, and Tips editor-in-chief Josef Gruber.
Landestheater as a supporter
“Our Christkindl team still has three important weeks to distribute the money to those in the country who need it particularly urgently,” said Mascher and thanked Thomas Königstorfer, commercial director of the Landestheater Linz, for the energetic artistic Support that the OÖN Christkindl can rely on every year.
