Tomorrow the OCS Swans will continue in the Basketball Super League (BSL). The Gmunden welcome the Lions from Traiskirchen (5.30 p.m., Raiffeisen Sportpark). After the surprising 83:75 home win in the last FIBA Europe Cup match on Wednesday against the top Turkish team Gaziantep, it is now up to the swans to return to the championship after three – albeit extremely close – defeats in a row to find track.
“We could only surprise against Gaziantep, but in the championship it’s a different starting position – we’ve lost a lot of feathers there,” says Swans CFO Harald Stelzer. “But the three defeats were all away. And we saw that home is at home. After the match against Traiskirchen we’re playing away from home three times in a row in the BSL. So we should try to gain some ground.”
The Swans travel to Fürstenfeld (December 8th), Eisenstadt (11th) and Wels (26th). In the meantime (17th) the Cup Round of 16 encounter with St. Pölten will be held in Gmunden. The winner of this duel meets a few days later, on December 21st, in the quarterfinals against the Vienna Timberwolves, the very young team that sensationally defeated the Swans by one point 79:78. The championship home game against St. Pölten scheduled for December 18th will be added in February. (gs)
