The 26-year-old won her ninth World Cup success, 9.9 points ahead of Eva Pinkelnig and 17.8 points ahead of Sara Marita Kramer. As the third-best ÖSV jumper, Chiara Kreuzer was 23rd. After the third competition of this season, Pinkelnig is still at the top of the overall ranking.
Althaus achieved the highest distance of the day with 99 meters in the first round and then confidently defended her lead. After all, Pinkelnig and Kramer jumped half a meter more than the German in the second round. “It was another great jump. If I stick to my concept, then it’ll fit,” Pinkeling summed up in an ORF interview and raved about her “super setup”.
Kramer improved from sixth to third place in the second round. “I put more pressure on my second jump,” said Salzburg, who is still waiting for her first World Cup win of the season. “The level is very high. You have to jump very well if you want to be at the top,” explained Kramer.
The overall World Cup title defender, like Pinkelnig, was clearly looking forward to the large hill competition on Sunday. “Flying is much better there,” said Kramer.
