The week begins as the last ended: in the lowlands on Monday to expect high fog, in the Mühlviertel and in the southern highlands isolated hours of sunshine are possible. “In the afternoon, clouds will gather again from the southwest, rain and sleet are possible on Tuesday night,” says ZAMG meteorologist Liliane Hofer. Light snowfall is also possible at altitudes over 700 meters.
At the Tuesday morning conditions improve again, thanks to a fault zone it is sunny at times in large parts of the country. Harmless clouds will gather in the afternoon, but the moderate westerly wind will make it rather uncomfortable outdoors. At the Wednesday the cloud cover becomes denser. While the rest of the country remains dry, rain is likely in the southern highlands and snowfall above 600 to 700 meters.
At the Thursday it will be even friendlier with a mix of sunshine and clouds. At the Friday could then be the first real onset of winter. “Currently, the models look as if it would snow in large parts of the country. However, the quality of the forecast is not yet very high, so it remains exciting,” says Hofer.
