Several traffic signs and a street lamp in Kirchberg-Thening (Linz-Land district) fell victim to a 20-year-old alcoholic driver over the weekend. The woman was on the B133 around midnight on Saturday when she left the road in a sharp left turn.

With her badly damaged car, which was missing a front tire, the 20-year-old drove to a nearby settlement and left the car there. She wanted to flee on foot, but was quickly stopped by a police patrol. An alcohol test showed a value of 1.34 per mille. She was reported.
Nationwide, the executive carried out traffic controls from Friday to Saturday. The officials caught a total of 104 alcohol and drug drivers. 50 drunk road users had a blood alcohol content of 0.8 or more. In 20 other cases it turned out that the drivers were affected by drugs.
Traffic Minister Günther Steinkellner (FP) emphasized that 20 of 104 drivers were pulled from the road because of drugs. “Almost one in five, that illustrates the federal political urgency of targeted measures,” he says.
