A composer from the Ukraine who is largely unknown to us created a Christmas carol in 1914 which, thanks to its catchy four-note motif, has been one of the best-known Christmas carols, especially in Anglo-American countries, for decades. The song “Carol of the Bells” only became really famous as the Oscar-nominated film music for “Home Alone”.
Today’s interpreters of “Carol of the Bells” form the New String Quartet led by Ute Lehmann. “It’s unmistakable that the young string players – in contrast to Kevin, who was about the same age and had to deal with burglars for days – were able to use the time more sensibly: namely to play the violins,” says music school director Christian Denkmaier: “And so a video was created , which amazes at the harmonious sounds the young music students are already able to elicit from their instruments.”
