The steel sculptor cut it out of a manganese steel block weighing 3.5 kilograms and around 12.5 centimeters high. There is no comparable movement in the world that has been made from such hard steel. It shows a child holding a globe in his hand and wanting to close the rift in the world with a healing gesture. The Christ Child made of wax on the high altar of the church in Christkindl inspired Blümelhuber to create this work of art. The small Jesus child and the large globe want to emphasize the worldwide importance of this child.
“The war in Ukraine and climate change show us how torn our world is,” says theologian Karl Ramsmaier. The work of art “Future of Mankind” has lost none of its topicality. “It can strengthen us to believe in the future of humanity.”
