Two of the most beautiful Advent markets in the Mühlviertel

For two years, organizers and visitors had to do without one of the most atmospheric Advent markets in the Mühlviertel: the Weinberger Schloss-Advent. From Friday to Sunday, however, there is again a lot of activity around the stands of the more than 120 exhibitors in the palace. True to the motto “Art instead of kitsch”, visitors can look forward to living workshops, handmade art objects and a castle courtyard decorated for Christmas. A series of concerts with genuine folk music in the Knights’ Hall, the arias of the Kefermarkt music band and the Nordwald hunting horn blowers spread the festive Christmas spirit. A free shuttle service from the train station and the marked parking spaces guarantees a stress-free arrival and departure.

Oratorio opens Waldhausen Advent

Already tomorrow, Thursday, the Waldhausener Advent opens its doors in the monastery area. With the concert “Music for Christmas”, one of the highlights of the long weekend is also on the program. At 4 p.m. in the baroque collegiate church, the orchestra and students of the Anton Bruckner Private University Linz will perform a musical experience of the highest quality: under the overall direction of Robert Holzer, sections four to six from Johann Sebastian Bach’s Christmas Oratorio will be performed as a warm-up to the most beautiful celebration of the year presented.

After a rest day on Friday, things continue on Saturday and Sunday (each from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.) with numerous regional artisans, such as the last beeswax candlestick in Austria. On the Advent path around the monastery, visitors should not miss the unique nativity scene with life-size carved figures by the extreme carver Ernst Adelsberger and live animals. Carriage rides and a program for children make the Waldhausen Advent a very special experience, even for the little ones.
