With tradition and modernity, the concert program showed the wide musical spectrum of the musicians in the fully occupied Donausaal.
Chapel remains in female hands
The highlight of the evening, however, was the farewell to Elisabeth Tausche as conductor. Exactly 30 years after taking on this role, Tausche is now retiring from the band’s musical direction. With Ute Großauer, a longstanding, technically experienced colleague takes over the musical fortunes of the traditional association founded in 1840. As a sign of recognition for the great contribution to the further development of brass band music in the town, Tausche received the Ring of Honor of the market town of Mauthausen from the hands of Deputy Mayor Franz Aigenberger.
When she took office in December 1992, Tausche was the first woman in the district of Perg to direct the musical fortunes of a music band. In the district management of the Perg brass band, Tausche was district secretary and later also deputy district conductor. She proved that she not only conducts, but also arranges and composes, with the “Voggerl-Marsch”, which she dedicated to honorary music director Franz Voggeneder on his 90th birthday.
