For the 16th time, more than 30 blacksmiths from Germany and abroad will be able to admire their craftsmanship at this internationally renowned event.
Between Grünmarkt and Zwischenbrücken, nail, knife and art blacksmiths show their work on anvils and air hammers. The historic smithy in the magnificently renovated town museum in the Innerbergerstadel will also be used on Saturday as part of the Blacksmith Christmas.
Forge for Peace
Children can also try their hand at blacksmithing under expert guidance. In addition, a group of students from HTL Steyr will produce peace nails as part of the international project “Forges for Peace”, which can then be purchased with a certificate of authenticity. Each peace nail is unique. The proceeds are used to support people in need or non-profit organizations.
This year, the forge Christmas, which lasts until 6 p.m. every day, will be slightly disturbed by the Sunday strollers. Two blacksmiths have to dismantle their stands in Pfarrgasse early. “I would have preferred it differently,” says Mayor Markus Vogl, but he can also live with this compromise.
