AMAG has completed the new cycle and pedestrian crossing for safely crossing the B156 near Ranshofen. 1.5 million euros were spent on this.
The employees of the companies in the Braunau-Ranshofen industrial area as well as all users of the cycle path network should benefit. With the simultaneous relocation of the bus stop directly to the factory entrance, a further contribution to safety is made.
The orders for the new bridge were awarded to companies from the Braunau district. The bridge was mostly built with material from the AMAG factory premises: During the design, care was taken to ensure that aluminum was used on the factory side and wood from the company’s own forest on the forest side. The state, the federal government and the EU have provided funding.
The cycle and pedestrian crossing also represents a link between the 130-hectare factory site and the 180-hectare AMAG forest.
In the future, the latter will also serve as a local recreation area and will invite visitors to linger and explore with a forest path that is currently being planned, as well as recreational islands.
Most recently, AMAG was recognized as “climate-active mobile” by the Ministry of the Environment. The construction of the cycle and pedestrian crossing that has now taken place was particularly emphasized. The award stands for the implementation of comprehensive measures to promote active mobility and thus also to reduce CO2 emissions.
