This autumn, five Upper Austrian municipalities set out under the motto “Paris, here we come!” to develop municipal strategies against the climate crisis. Three of them are from this region: Bad Ischl, Vöcklabruck and Kirchham. In cooperation with the Upper Austrian climate alliance and the state government, they are heading towards climate neutrality and developing local climate adaptation measures.
As the first community in the program, Gmunden adopted the “Climate Strategy Gmunden 2030” in September. The 16 measures in it range from raising awareness and strengthening climate-friendly mobility to geothermal energy.
The goal in all three municipalities are concrete measures: These can be, for example, the comprehensive installation of PV systems on municipally owned buildings, the expansion of micro public transport systems and cycle paths, the promotion of facade or flat roof greening, sustainable energy management and revitalization of town centers be.
