In October alone, seven suspects from the Czech Republic and Poland were investigated in Upper Austria. They are said to have stolen valuable bicycles, especially e-bikes, worth 110,000 euros. Including the damage caused by the burglaries, the total damage amounted to around 130,000 euros, reports Rudi Frühwirth, head of the theft group at the LKA.
On October 7, four Czechs were arrested red-handed in Linz. The investigators were able to prove 26 property crimes against you and four other accomplices: primarily burglaries in basement compartments and vehicles, and they are also charged with stealing a car. The perpetrators stole a car at the end of July, which the owner quickly noticed. The car thieves, fleeing to the Czech Republic, drove their car into a ditch and ran away on foot.

A 34-year-old woman from the Czech Republic focused on wheel thefts in the Kirchdorf area. She is said to have stolen a total of nine e-bikes, accessories and tools for around 45,000 euros. Part of the loot was found in the woman’s apartment in the Czech Republic. The e-bikes are to be transferred to Upper Austria in the next few weeks.
At the end of October, two Poles were checked at the Leopoldschlag border crossing. They had nine expensive bicycles in their van. The officials were able to assign several cellar burglaries in Linz-Urfahr to the duo.
“Never leave the battery of an e-bike on the bike,” advise the criminalists. Solid bicycle locks are also recommended.
