task at the “YOU”It was the challenge of the Poxrucker Sisters and OÖN to create their own version of the song “YOU” to post on social media. Six groups reached the final by jury decision, and now the winners have been determined: the music branch of BORG Bad Leonfelden won clearly ahead of the music band/choral community of St. Peter am Wimberg. The students receive a rehearsal room concert by the Poxrucker Sisters as a prize. In total, more than 183,000 votes were cast in the final voting. The state music school in Mattighofen, the fire brigade band in Rainbach, the Boundless Choir in Gaspoltshofen and ChorLibe from Lichtenberg also made it into the final.

In Bad Leonfelden, the celebration of the victory is great. “We are looking forward to the concert with the Poxrucker Sisters”, says Barbara Wolfmayr, coordinator of the music branch. 60 students sang the song, 13 students recorded it with their cell phones and edited the video, six students provided the right sound. The day before the deadline for submissions, the school submitted the video, in which they even managed to incorporate OÖN newspapers. Voting on nachrichten.at was also planned with military precision – the students regularly voted collectively at the beginning of the lesson.
The Poxrucker Sisters rejoice with the students. “They have demonstrated musical quality and created a great live video”, says Steffi Poxrucker. A total of 50 music groups from all over Austria took part. As a thank you, all participants will receive the sheet music of the new Christmas song “Christmas for me”. Other prizes include surprise packages and free tickets, and the Poxrucker Sisters will notify the winners via social media. There will be a special surprise for some, says Steffi Poxrucker: “We’re celebrating our tenth anniversary next year. It may be that we will report to one or the other formation.”
