Moped thief got off the road while fleeing

The 38-year-old is said to have stolen the moped from a carport in Bad Leonfelden (Urfahr area) in the early hours of the morning and put it in his van. He wanted to take the two-wheeler away unnoticed. During the search, officers noticed the van and tried to stop the driver.

But he fled – pursued by the police officers – in the direction of the Weigetschlag border crossing. There he turned around and drove back on the B126 in the direction of Bad Leonfelden. He tried several times to push the patrol car off.

Shortly before Bad Leonfelden, the chase ended abruptly: the van left the road and the Czech was arrested. The stolen moped, stolen license plates and other stolen goods were secured in the vehicle, the police said on Sunday evening.
