It was the only direct express train connection between the Salzkammergut and Vienna, transporting court widows from the federal capital to Ausseerland in the afternoon and students from the Salzkammergut in the opposite direction in the evening. Since the end of 2013, ÖBB has only sent the train on weekends and public holidays.
With yesterday’s timetable change, Archduke Johann also celebrated weekdays. Only with the silly name IC 1018 or IC 1019, but as the only train in the Salzkammergut with a first-class area. The train runs from Vienna Central Station (8.37 a.m.) directly to Stainach-Irdning (12.51 p.m.). In the opposite direction, the journey begins at 5:42 p.m. and ends in Vienna at 9:20 p.m.
