Full focus on championship after being eliminated from the cup

The Perg volleyball players put up a courageous fight in the quarter-finals of the Austria Cup. Against the first league team of TI Rowa-Moser Volley from Tyrol, the women from the Mühlviertel showed up again and again with well-played actions. In the end, the class difference was too clear and the hostesses said goodbye to the cup competition with a 0:3.

From now on, the club wants to concentrate fully on the current championship in the second Bundesliga, where the upward trend of the past few weeks has also continued in the game against the Linz steel volleyball team. The 3-0 victory – by the way the fifth championship win in a row – was not quite as superior as might be assumed at first glance: Sets one and two in particular were hotly contested and went 25:21 and 26: 24 just behind the team of coach Lydia Trauner. It was only in the third set that the Perg women swept over the young Linz team, especially with a service series by Paulina Surowka, who scored a total of 25 outstanding scorer points.

In the table, the Mühlviertel Volleys are in third place after the end of the first half of the season, which would mean reaching the championship round. Sports director Josef Trauner wants to secure this place in the second half of the season: “It’s looking good at the moment and I’m happy for the team that we’re bringing more relaxation into it with every game.” The last game of 2022 is on the calendar for Villach on Saturday .
