After Christmas is before New Year’s Eve. Many people still celebrate the upcoming turn of the year with big fireworks. However, the city of Schärding will not hear or see loud rockets this year, as Mayor Günter Streicher (SP) reports. In order to reduce pollution, Streicher appeals to all citizens to refrain from fireworks on New Year’s Eve this year. “Nature and above all the animal world will thank us,” says the mayor.
Criminal Shooting
The municipality also refers to the legal provisions: IIn Upper Austria, the shooting of category F2 fireworks in the local area and in the vicinity of or in large crowds of people is generally prohibited all year round. Outside of the city areas, firing is also nearby hospitals, children’s, old people’s and convalescent homes, churches and animal shelters punishable. Anyone who violates the Pyrotechnics Act must at least expect high fines.
