Christmas party at SV Ried: The return of the »prodigal son«

The departure of coach Oliver Glasner in spring 2015 was a stab in the heart of Rieder football. The fact that the record player and “captain of the century” of the club switched to arch-rival LASK of all things made the waves in the Innviertel run high for weeks. Seven years later, the Riedauer returned to his former “sporty living room” yesterday as the reigning Europa League winner and Champions round of 16 with Eintracht Frankfurt at the official Christmas party of the Rieder Kicker.

“It’s really a great feeling to come back after seven and a half years. I saw a lot of familiar faces, which makes me very happy,” said Glasner in front of around 500 guests. The 48-year-old described the year 2022 as “terrific”. The coach will soon be going on a well-deserved Christmas vacation with his family. Training starts on January 3rd. When asked what he was missing besides his family in the German metropolis, Glasner answered with a laugh: “Schnitzel, because I just like it.”

SV Ried President Roland Daxl emphasized the work of the many volunteers: “Something like that is unusual in the Bundesliga.” There was an early “Christ Child” for sports director Thomas Reicheltshammer. He became a father for the second time on Wednesday, little Tino saw the light of day.
