“Meat and Eat GmbH”, a portioning company, was built in a construction period of one year. A total of 4000 square meters of usable space was created on two floors.
“With this investment, we have taken into account the changed consumer behavior in the food trade and in the catering trade,” says company owner Rudolf Großfurtner. Due to the limited space at the previous production sites in Utzenaich and St. Martin, one of the leading domestic meat producers had reached its capacity limits. Großfurtner: “The planning had already been completed, so we went through with the project despite the prevailing general economic uncertainties.”
The new facility has seven new production lines for convenience products, on which 35 employees do their work. In the foreseeable future, the staff is to be increased to at least 50 people. “With the new production lines, we were able to switch from a two-shift to a one-shift operation. This means better and more predictable working hours for the workforce and increases our attractiveness as an employer,” says the entrepreneur. The production capacity for the convenience division doubles.
Turnover: 230 million euros
In 2021, the Innviertel group of companies generated sales of around 233 million euros with 600 employees at the locations in Utzenaich, St. Martin, Lambrecht, Schwertberg and Passau.
