From the 2023/24 winter semester, one bachelor’s and two master’s courses will be in the starting blocks at the Johannes Kepler University. All have dedicated themselves entirely to the topic of plastics technology.
A floating continent of plastic in the oceans, microplastics in food and in our bodies: present and future challenges require engineers who take a critical look at the subject of plastic and develop revolutionary solutions to problems.
“The new range of courses not only convey specialist knowledge of plastics technology,” says JKU Rector Meinhard Lukas. They would also teach Future Skills. “This means that the students develop skills in order to be able to act and interact successfully for the benefit of the environment, humanity, society, economy and technology.”
The three new plastics technology studies follow new focal points and content. Sustainability, circular economy and recycling accompany the students throughout their studies and are examined from different perspectives, e.g. And the social contexts are also researched by the students. The new courses have a modular structure and allow students to set future-oriented priorities.
Teaching is combined with presence and online. The graduates can work in industry or science as well as in different areas – from medicine to sports, mobility, energy to packaging. Further information at jku.at/plastic-new-thinking
