How the short week will adapt
In the Italian bank they propose to change the work modality by implementing a week cut of 4 days of 9 hours of work at equal pay. This new system would apply to workers who wish to adopt it, it is not mandatory.
The short week will start working from January. Employees will compensate the rest day with an hour and a half of more work per day. Namely, each working day will be nine working hours instead of the seven and a half they previously had. Working time is reduced to 36 hours per week, instead of 37 and a half valid up to now.
Other changes in the way of working
In addition to the reduction in working hours, the bank will offer its employees the possibility of teleworking up to 120 days a year. This change will allow the company to save on energy costs.
However, after five months of negotiation, the bank did not convince the unions of the convenience of this new organization, since they criticized the fact that workers are not compensated for the costs of energy and internet connection that they must bear.
