Temperatures below 0 degrees, plus snowfall and sometimes icy winds: until Tuesday the weather will change according to the season. After that, oddly enough just at the beginning of winter, milder air masses flow into the country. Does that also mean a green Christmas? “Not necessarily,” dares Liliane Hofer from the Central Institute for Meteorology and Geodynamics (ZAMG) a cautious outlook. This depends entirely on whether the mild air then really prevails – or whether the inversion weather situation and thus the cold stays below the high fog. “There remains a faint glimmer of hope that there will still be a white Christmas,” says Hofer.

Saturday begins with freezing low temperatures between -14 and -6 degrees, plus there are clouds and snowfall. From midday it stays dry, the sun can then prevail in the Innviertel.
Sunday will be significantly sunnier, with a moderate easterly wind blowing. The maximum temperatures level off between -8 and -2 degrees. In the night to Monday, a few cloud fields cloud the sky, but it remains dry during the day, the temperature remains the same as the day before.
It starts mostly sunny on Tuesday, only in the lowlands tough high fog can last longer. As Hofer announced, the temperatures will rise from the afternoon: “Due to a weakening of the frost, up to +6 degrees are possible again.”
