According to the police, the woman did not want to bring the perpetrator and three other passengers to the desired destination because they had behaved conspicuously. A young man then hit her in the head with his fist, all four fled, but later turned themselves in to the police.
The four got into the 48-year-old’s taxi at 4.15 a.m. in front of a disco in Weiz and wanted to be taken to a forest behind the outdoor pool in Gersdorf an der Feistritz. According to the driver, they behaved conspicuously while driving and boasted that they wanted to use drugs later. This prompted the taxi driver to stop her vehicle, let the men out and collect the fare. The woman said one of the men hit her in the head from behind with his fist, leaving her momentarily dazed. The strangers then fled.
In the afternoon, four young men between the ages of 17 and 21 finally came to the Ilz police station. They admitted to getting off without paying the fare. According to their own statements, they jumped out of the car and ran away at the same time. However, they did not confess to attacking the driver.
