Now the city politicians want to honor the Nobel Prize winner by municipal council decision: The HTL Ried is proposed to be named “Anton-Zeilinger-HTL”. However, due to a lack of responsibility, the city cannot exert any direct influence on this.

In addition, the Nobel Prize winner with Rieder roots is to be awarded honorary citizenship of the city – albeit “without a ring of honour”, as a member of the municipal council critically notes.
