A 59-year-old from Mattighofen found his 64-year-old wife unconscious in the anteroom at around 1:15 p.m. and immediately notified the emergency services. When the paramedics entered the apartment, their CO warning devices sounded the alarm. According to the fire brigade, the reason for the high carbon monoxide values was a screwed cleaning cover on the gas boiler’s flue pipe, which had come loose. As a result, the thermal bath could not draw in enough oxygen, which resulted in carbon monoxide being produced during combustion. The couple has now been able to leave the hospital.
