Last weekend, the traditional Christmas tree swim took place in Schärding with 20 divers from the Schärding and Ried fire departments. The divers swam with torches and an illuminated Christmas tree from the inland in the area of the Hotel Gugerbauer to the water gate. A frosty affair: The water temperature was 3.4 degrees. After the swim, Santa Claus came across the Inn in a motorboat and brought the children bags of sweets. The event was musically accompanied by the wind instruments of the Schärding town band.
The pre-Christmas swim in the ice-cold Inn has been taking place since 1984. The FF Schärding is already preparing for the next event. On December 24th at 10.30 a.m. the Peace Light will be handed over to the population and the Bavarian comrades on the town square.
