Popular excursion destination unlocks again on New Year’s Day

The phone rings non-stop. The new uniform in black and gold fits perfectly. In the kitchen, steam erupts from the pans unless the circuit breaker is interfering. Dozens of open points still need to be settled before the opening on January 1st, 2023 at 9.30 a.m. The trio Oliver Schlader (34), Sonja Kronsteiner (33) and Ilyas Moser (40) have to take off their make-up for a contemplative Christmas, but the atmosphere at the Glasner Hütte at 804 meters above sea level could hardly be better.

Lots of experience comes into play

The new tenant Oliver Schlader is looking forward to his first restaurant business like a snow king. “Gastronomy has always appealed to me, but I first took a detour and learned locksmithing,” Schlader tells the Steyrer Zeitung. He read an advertisement for new tenants and applied without hesitation. “Even if that meant that I had to resign as a restaurant manager with my childhood friend – Max Rahofer – with a heavy heart.”

Just like Schlader himself, his right and left hand, Sonja Kronsteiner and Ilyas Moser, bring a lot of experience in gastronomy to the Glasner Hütte. After two seconds, Sonja Kronsteiner agreed to be on board and was on duty at the Schobersteinhaus, among other places. All three are season-tested and fully motivated. Schlader and his team are following in the footsteps of Helga and Kurt Krifter, who shaped the Glasner Hütte for 17 years and established it as a comfortable destination for regular guests, skiers, hikers, birthday groups and even wedding parties. “We are very happy that Helga and Kurt are at our side with advice and action,” says Schlader, confirming a good working relationship.

In general, people and guests from the entire region in the federal states of Upper and Lower Austria are happy that life will soon return to the Glasner Hütte on Glasenberg and that operations will pick up speed again. There are already many congratulations and promises to stop by on January 1, 2023 in social networks and in personal exchanges: there will be live music and beer tapping at the opening. Incidentally, Linzer beer is served, including wheat beer on tap. The Glasner Hütte is open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. until January 8th. “After that we will be there for our guests from Thursday to Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.,” says the new tenant. “Upon request, other opening days are just as possible as special requests in the direction of the kitchen,” announces Schlader, who will swing the cooking spoon himself. When it comes to food and drinks, he attaches great importance to regionality and buys a lot of groceries in the neighborhood. Goulash soup is served as well as Brettljause and boiled meat.
