The contract was awarded in 2012, and in 2025 an arc is to be drawn from the historic city on the Inn to the state garden show under the title “INNsGrün”. Andrea Berghammer, the company’s own managing director, started work in August.
The 49-year-old worked in various industries, most recently mainly in the event sector. Together with a gradually expanding team of other specialists, she is to manage the state garden show from construction to implementation in 2025.
Look at eleven acres
As a 100 percent subsidiary of the municipality of Schärding, the Landesgartenschau Schärding GmbH serves as a link between the state of Upper Austria as the main sponsor and the municipality. Mayor Günter Streicher: “The preparations and planning for the State Garden Show 2025 are in full swing. Thanks to the good cooperation with the Managing Director of the State Garden Show GmbH, Andrea Berghammer, and the members of the Supervisory Board, the first major milestones have already been set.” It is important to everyone involved to hold an event that is ecologically and urban-planning sustainable and that offers Schärdingers and visitors lasting added value.
The garden show area with a total of almost eleven hectares includes the palace park, the orangery park, the green valley and the inner country. The Baumgartner Brewery is making its property available in Grüntal, and the Schärding Kurhaus is making parts of the Kurpark, which is otherwise not open to the public, available. Seven international planning offices are currently working on landscape planning as part of a competition.
The jury consisting of industry experts, representatives of the municipality and the managing director jointly choose the winning project. The result should be known in the first quarter of 2023. In addition to the overall design of the site, there will also be room for projects worked out with regional organizations and associations.

“I am very aware of the responsibility that this major project requires and the challenge, but I can tell from every single conversation I have had that there will be great ideas and a lot of support. The cooperation with the municipality is excellent and I feel that we are all working together towards the same goal of a successful Schärding State Horticultural Show,” says Andrea Berghammer.
